Auto manufacturers have released their sales numbers for the month of August 2024. SUVs are ruling the chart, which is evident from the sales of Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti Brezza, and Mahindra XUV700. In this article, we will talk about the top selling sub-4 meter SUVs in the month of August 2024.

The Brezza sub-4 meter SUV rules the segment with a total of 19190 units sold in the month of August 2024. It recorded a year-on-year sales growth of 32%, as Maruti sold 14,572 units in the same month last year.
The big upset comes from Tata Motors, as its top-selling model, the Nexon, is now placed at 4th position in our list of top-selling sub-4 meter SUVs. The company sold 12,289 units of the Nexon as compared to 8,049 units in the same month last year. Despite YoY sales growth of 53%, the Tata Nexon slipped below the Brezza, Fronx and Punch in terms of sales.
The good news for Tata is that the Punch retains the second position in the list of top selling sub-4 meter SUV. The company sold 15,643 units of the micro SUV in August 2024 as against 14,523 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 8%.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx is at the 3rd position, recording a total sales of 12,289 units in Aug 2024. The crossover reported a YoY sales growth of 2%, as it recorded 12,164 units sales in the same month last year. Kia Motors India sold 10,073 units of the Sonet compact SUV last month, reporting a YoY sales growth of 144%. This is the biggest jump in terms of percentage, as Kia had sold 4,120 units of the Sonet in August 2023.
The biggest surprise is the Mahindra XUV 3XO, which finally helps the homegrown automaker to have a significant presence in the sub-4 meter SUV category. The company has reported a YoY sales growth of 80%, as it sold 4,992 units of the XUV300 in the same month last year.
The Hyundai Venue reported a negative year-on-year sales of 17% in the month of August 2024. The company sold 9,085 units of the Venue in August 2024 as against 10,948 units in the same month last year. In fact, the Exter micro SUV has also posted a negative growth of 11%.
