Following the introduction of the EQS 53 4MATIC, Mercedes Benz India has launched the locally produced EQS 580 in the country. Priced at Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom), the car brings forth a new level of luxury, sophistication and performance at an affordable price point. Joining products like the Maybach 580 and the S-Class, this is the 14th locally assembled Mercedes Benz model to be launched in the country. Here is everything you need to know.
In terms of design, the EQS 580 sports a familiar silhouette and lines when compared to the more expensive EQS 53. The differences in design include a new tri-arrow design on the digital front grille and a new design alloy wheel. The clean and flowing lines on the body of the car helps it achieve a Cd value of 0.20.
Like with the EQS 53 4MATIC, this four-wheeler gets the modern Mercedes Benz cabin that comprises of the up to 20 percent sustainable materials. Stand out feature on the vehicle is the new MBUX Hyper screen that gives customers an unprecedented access to 56-inches of digital space. Like with most flagship Mercedes Benz model, this vehicle also comes equipped with 9 airbags, pre-safe and driver assistance system as standard.

Despite costing significantly cheaper than the AMG model, the EQS 580 comes powered by the familiar 107.8 kW battery pack that produces up to 385 kW of power. This power is transferred to all the four-wheels through independent motors mounted on the front and the rear axle. According to the company, this EV model has gone through rigorous testing of over 10,000 kilometres with ARAI and has returned a claimed range of 857 kilometres. The WLTP range is set at 677 kilometres making it the longest-range electric vehicle in the country.
The locally produced EQS can accept charging speeds of up to 180 kW (DC) and helps put back up to 300-kilometre range in just 15 minutes. As a first for an EV in India, the car also supports bi-directional charging, making it a source of energy to be used at times of crisis.

The 5-start Euro NCAP safety rated car comes provided with 2 year/ 30,000 kilometres service interval and 8-year battery warranty. The company plans to add a total of 140+ EV chargers (180 kW DC, 60 kW DC and 22 kW AC) across 80 percent geographical area of the country.
