Mercedes-Benz has officially launched the 2024 E-Class Long-Wheelbase (LWB) at Rs 78.5 lakh in India. The sedan, known for blending luxury with advanced technology, comes with a starting price of Rs 78.5 lakh for the base E 200 variant, Rs 81.5 lakh for the E 220d and Rs 92.5 lakh for the top-end E 450 variant. Deliveries for the E 200 begin today, while those for the E 220d are expected around Diwali. The E 450, the most powerful in the lineup, will see deliveries starting in November.
The 2024 E-Class LWB comes with larger dimensions compared to its predecessor. With an increased length of 5092 mm and a taller height of 1493 mm, the new model offers more space, particularly for passengers seated in the rear. The extended wheelbase of 3094 mm further ensures a roomier cabin, enhancing the overall comfort and appeal of the car. Mercedes-Benz has designed this model to meet the expectations of Indian buyers who value both space and luxury in their vehicles.
From an exterior design perspective, the 2024 E-Class features modern updates that set it apart from its competitors. The sleek LED headlights come standard, with the option to upgrade to advanced Digital Light technology for improved visibility at night. The grille design varies depending on the trim level, with an option for an illuminated grille inspired by Mercedes’ electric EQ range. The rear of the car is equally striking, with two-part LED taillights that integrate the iconic Mercedes star, adding a touch of elegance to the car’s overall design. Sleek flush-fitting door handles, star-patterned LED tail lamps and revamped bumpers enhance the car's look.
Inside the cabin, the rear seats offer a 36-degree recline, something not found in many rivals like the BMW 5 Series. A fixed dual-pane sunroof allows more natural light to enter the cabin, while premium materials like open-pore wood trim provide a sophisticated and upscale feel. Mercedes has ensured that every detail of the interior speaks to the luxury experience that the brand is known for.
In terms of technology, It comes with the latest MBUX Hyperscreen, which includes a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger and a 14.4-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment setup supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standout features include a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, two wireless chargers, voice-controlled sunblinds and powered seats with reclining rear seats for added comfort. A Burmester 4D sound system with Dolby Atmos enhances the audio experience. One of the more unique features is the built-in selfie camera, which lets passengers join video meetings via apps like Zoom or simply take pictures during the drive.
Safety is a priority in the new E-Class, which comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These include features like adaptive cruise control and active brake assist, which can prevent accidents by automatically applying the brakes when necessary. The car is also packed with multiple airbags, including a central airbag for enhanced protection. Other safety features include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Mercedes offers three engine options with the E Class LWB. The E 200 features a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 204 bhp, while the E 220d comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates 197 bhp. The top-spec E 450 4MATIC takes things up a notch with its 3.0-litre inline-six engine, delivering an impressive 367 bhp and all-wheel-drive capability. A mild hybrid system that provides an additional torque boost of 22 hp and 205 Nm is onboard as well.
