Mercedes-Benz India has introduced a new AMG Line variant on the GLE 300d, replacing the Professional Line trim at Rs. 97.85 lakh. With this add-on, all GLEs including 450 and 450d 4MATICs have an AMG version available.
“The GLE remains our most successful SUV in India with over 22,000 units on Indian roads, firmly reiterating the overwhelming customer response since its debut, GLE’s high customer acceptance is now further bolstered with the introduction of a dynamic ‘AMG Line’…The AMG Line in the GLE 300d enhances the SUV’s visual appeal, making it more dynamic with a striking exterior,” Mercedes-Benz India MD Santosh Iyer said.
Changes to the new GLE 300d AMG come in the form of 20-inch alloy wheels, enhanced brake size, new diamond grille, refreshed front fascia and rear bumper and body-coloured wing flares. Even the ORVMs have been finished in black. Other features like twin 12.3-inch digital displays, a 13-speaker Burmester sound setup, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats and panoramic sunroof are carried over the outgoing model.
Moving inside, the interior and features remain unchanged. It gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system, wireless charging and USB Type C ports, a 360-deg camera, electrically adjustable front and rear seats, ventilated and powered front seats with massage function, transparent bonnet function, electric sun blinds, a panoramic sunroof and much more.
Under the hood is a familiar 2-litre four-cylinder diesel mill churning 265 bhp and 550 Nm of pull force. It is also paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid integrated starter-generator (ISG) providing a 20 bhp/ 220Nm boost. Transmission duties are handled by a 9-speed automatic and power is sent to all four wheels. The 0-100 kmph sprint takes 6.9 seconds while its top speed is capped at 230 kmph.
Competing in the luxury SUV segment, the Mercedes GLE rivals BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90.
