Porsche 911 Dakar was known for its unique, limited-run version of the iconic sports car which is capable of maintaining a fast pace off-road without compromising its on-road abilities. The car was on sale in the international market between 2022 and 2024 but the production of the off-road-ready 911 ended.
Now, it has been in recent reports that the rugged 911 Dakar could debut in the lineup of the refreshed 992-generation Porsche 911. Get more details!
Porsche is planning to bring back the 911 Dakar while keeping it a limited edition but adding the hybrid powertrain from the updated Carrera GTS. We are expecting the launch of this hybrid version later in 2025.
This upgraded car will feature a similar rugged styling and jacked-up design as its original model. The brand is also said to be developing a new range of exterior color shades with other options which are likely to be offered through its customization division called Sonderwunsch (Special Wish) for the new model.
The Hybrid 911 Dakar is expected to be powered by the flat-six hybrid powertrain which is seen in the 911 Carrera GTS. This powertrain is called T-Hybrid and delivers 491.73 bhp and the electric motor produces 56.78 bhp. The engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The total output in the Porsche 911 GTS is 548 bhp and 680Nm of peak torque.
As with updates, the hybrid powertrain is also expected to improve fuel economy. The new 911 Dakar is also expected to come with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive, like the GTS.
