Kia Syros is the latest offering from the South Korean automaker, which recently made its world debut in India. The OEM has confirmed that bookings will begin on 3rd January 2024. The model will make its first public appearance at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025, with prices to be announced in February. In terms of pricing, the all-new Syros will overlap with some variants of the Sonet and Seltos.
The carmaker has equipped the compact SUV with numerous comfort features and safety enhancements, with a major focus on cabin comfort and the rear seat experience. Compared to the Sonet, the Kia Syros is 10mm wider, 55mm taller, and has a 50mm longer wheelbase. In fact, its boot space, which stands at 465 liters, is larger than that of the Sonet. Here, we have listed the top 10 features of the Syros compact SUV.
The Syros is the first vehicle in its segment to come with streamline or flush door handles. These handles pop out when the car is unlocked or when a button is pressed, using a touch-sensitive mechanism. Flush door handles are usually offered on higher-segment SUVs, such as the Mahindra XUV700.
The new Kia compact SUV features dual 12.3-inch displays—one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster. Additionally, there is a 5-inch screen for the climate control system. Together, these three displays form a 30-inch screen, called the Trinity panoramic display.
The Kia Syros comes with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, adding a modern aesthetic. This large sunroof allows more natural light into the cabin, making it feel airier and more spacious. The dual-pane panoramic sunroof is currently offered on cars a segment above, including the Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Seltos.
Kia claims that the Syros is the first model in its category to feature OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates. This service allows carmakers to remotely send software updates, fix bugs, and improve features without the need to visit a dealership. This feature is usually available on Tata, Hyundai, and MG cars.
The new Kia compact SUV is equipped with an 8-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, which is also offered in several high-end cars. The system delivers superior sound quality with multi-channel surround sound and has been engineered to minimize road noise and vibration interference.
Like the Sonet, the all-new Kia Syros features a 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. This allows the driver to adjust the seat position using electric motors instead of manually adjusting it. It’s a convenient feature that provides fine-tuned control.
One of the major highlights of the Syros is its reclining rear seats with a 60:40 split-folding ratio. Rear seat passengers can tilt the seat backward for added comfort and a more relaxed seating position. The tallboy stance and wider body ensure ample cabin space, especially for rear seat occupants.
Kia has equipped the Syros with a Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite, offering 16 autonomous features, including smart cruise control with stop & go, forward collision warning and avoidance assist, lane keep assist, parking collision avoidance assist (reverse), lane departure warning, and more.
This new Kia compact SUV also comes with a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor. This modern safety feature uses multiple cameras placed around the vehicle to provide a bird’s-eye view. The blind view monitor reduces visibility issues in areas like the sides and rear of the vehicle.
The new Kia Syros SUV comes with six airbags as part of the standard safety kit. These include front dual airbags, front seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Other features include brake force assist, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist control, emergency stop, child locks, front and rear parking sensors, speed-sensing auto door locks, impact-sensing auto door unlock, front and rear three-point seat belts with reminders, and ISOFIX rear anchors.
