The cat is out of the bag as MG Motors India has unveiled its compact SUV contender the 2023 Hector Facelift. Offering a slew of new cosmetic updates and an even longer feature list than ever before, the New Hector packs in a punch against its main rivals the KIA Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
One area where the New MG Hector Facelift has seen significant changes is in the design department. Gone is the round profile and in comes a new bold striking design. There are major changes to the front and rear of the SUV while the side profile remains the same.
At the front we get to see a large Argyle grille finished in chrome along with a new housing for the LED headlamp units. The new elements give the car it’s much-required muscular looks. Towards the rear, changes are limited to a new ADAS badge and a new LED brake light bar that extends the width of the SUV. While the design of the outgoing model was liked by all, the new car can divide opinions with its polarising and flat design.
Moving to the interior, the 2023 MG Hector gets an updated cabin finished in dual-tone argil brown and black theme. The standout feature of the 2023 Hector’s cabin is the introduction of a 14-inch HD portrait infotainment unit that offers a host of functionalities including 75 plus connected car features. The i-SMART system now offers owners the first-in-segment digital Bluetooth key and key sharing capability with up to 2 people along with a host of helpful apps such as Park+ for parking discovery and the Jio-Saavn App for music. For the rest of it, the four-wheeler offers a familiar cabin with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, ventilated seats, premium audio system, electronic parking brake and more.

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the biggest update to the 2023 MG Hector Facelift is the addition of Level-2 ADAS functionality. While the feature has been a common thread on many new MG models including the Astor and the Gloster, it was long due to arrive on the Hector. The new ADAS functionality adds to the already long list of safety features on the four-wheeler that includes 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, ESP, Traction Control system, Hill Assist Control (HAC), all four-wheel disc brakes and more. ADAS features on the Hector includes:
Mechanically, the 2023 MG Hector will remain similar to the outgoing model. There is a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing a maximum power output of 141 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. Also, on offer will be a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque mated to only a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Pricing for the new SUV will be revealed at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023. For more updates stay tuned to CarLelo.
