7 Things That Make MG Windsor EV More Desirable Than Tata Nexon EV

If we talk about the most feature-loaded EVs, the Tata Nexon EV occupies an important place. However, the extremely loaded MG Windsor EV has become the Nexon EV’s closest rival, especially pricing-wise (excluding Battery as a Service or BaaS scheme) and has a lot of useful and quirky bits that we have listed out for you. For the comparison, we have stacked the range-topping MG Windsor EV Essence and Tata Nexon EV Empowered Medium Range (MR) and Empowered Plus Long Range (LR) variants against each other.

Pricing Overview

Compared to the Tata Nexon EV Long Range, the MG Windsor EV appears to be an economical choice with a difference of nearly Rs 80,000 both ex-showroom and on-road, respectively.

Dimensions

MG Windsor EV is longer, wider and taller than the electric Nexon. Even the wheelbase is substantially longer and this translates into a more roomier interior. While the MG offering falls in the crossover utility vehicle (CUV) space, Tata’s EV is slotted in the sub-compact SUV segment. Here is a quick comparison:

Largest Touchscreen Size in its Segment

MG Windsor EV Touchscreen

MG Windsor EV comes with a massive 15.3-inch touchscreen, the highest in the segment. As a reference, the maximum screen size you can get on an Apple iPad is 13 inches. Also, the Windsor EV lets you control all car controls via the screen. The Tata Nexon gets 10.24-inch (MR) and 12.29-inch (LR) touchscreens.

Boot space

MG Windsor EV Boot Space

Boot space is a critical factor for many buyers and the Windsor EV boasts an impressive 579 litres of it (good for four large suitcases), whereas the Nexon EV offers 350 litres (which is good for two to three medium-sized suitcases) on both trims. On long trips or daily drives, the extra space can make a huge difference. Both electric vehicles get folding seats to increase the luggage carrying capacity.

Rear Reclining Seats

MG Windsor EV Seat

This is another segment-first feature that enhances the rear seat comfort. With the front seats reclined back without the headrest and rear seats set at a 135-degree angle, you can experience a business class-like experience on wheels. The bubble-type seats add to the comfort quotient as well.

Panoramic Roof

MG Windsor EV Panoramic Sunroof

With the addition of a panoramic glass roof unit, the cabin feels more airy and open. Whereas, the Tata Nexon EV features a standard sunroof and is not as expansive. Notably, the Windsor EV has a fixed unit but the Nexon EV has an openable one.

Battery as a Service (BaaS)

MG has debuted the BaaS program with the Windsor EV, allowing buyers more flexibility with battery ownership and reducing upfront costs. This is covered in detail under the Pricing Overview subheading.
