British luxury automaker Rolls-Royce recently revealed the Black Badge Wraith Arrow to mark the end of production of the iconic model. It is inspired by the land-speed record holding Thunderbolt from the 1930’s. Launched in 2013, the Wraith is the sportier sibling of the Phantom and Ghost. Now, with the brand going fully-electric for its upcoming cars, it is also the last V12 engine-powered Rolls-Royce ever. Only 12 units will be made, and all of them have already been sold out.
The New Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow’s exterior features a new ‘gradient paint’ which, depending on the viewing position, transitions from silver to gloss black. Rolls-Royce states that the car is polished for over 12 hours to get a glass-like finish on the complex paint job. Like the Thunderbolt, the special-edition Wraith also gets yellow detailing on the front bumper, wheels and even on the black Spirit of Ecstasy insignia.
Inside, it provides a black and yellow interior theme with an unique artwork on the dashboard that depicts the V12 engine. There is also a new starlight headliner that features a record 2117 fibre-optic lights, and door cards with 320 pieces of marquetry to create a textured wood veneer. The vehicle also features an illuminated scale model of the Thunderbolt land-speed record car between its front doors. engineered and driven by Captain Edward Thomas Esyton, the Thunderbolt was a teardrop-shaped, aluminium race car that holds the record of the fastest V12 engined automobile ever. The record speed, 576 kmph, is inscribed beneath the watch face in the Special Edition Wraith.
There are no mechanical changes to the New Wraith Black Arrow. It is powered by a 6.6-litre V12 turbo-petrol engine that makes 624 bhp with over 870 Nm of peak torque, mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Additionally, each Black Arrow will get a plaque on the engine that reads ‘Final Coupe Collection’ in black.
