Ford Endeavour/ Everest is expected to make a comeback in India very soon. Recently, the SUV was photographed without camouflage on a flatbed truck in Chennai. The newly styled Endeavour model that Ford introduced globally in March 2022 was not on sale in India before Ford’s India pullout. Now, it is slated to go on sale in 2025 as a CBU import to slot in the full-sized SUV segment that is now reigned by the Toyota Fortuner.
Endeavour’s build has seen a marginal growth in size - it is wider by 146 mm and has a longer wheelbase by 50 mm. This should increase the cabin width as well as the legroom comfort in the cabin for everyone. It looks raw and aggressive but it still tries to incorporate some new and more refined touches. It has a more muscular front end and a larger grille, while its matrix LED headlights boast C-shaped DRLs.
At the side, its body slides towards the side giving a squared look with a broader shoulder line. At the back, are new inverted L-shaped LED tail lamps. The new Endeavour also now looks more modern as the lines are sharper and the details are different from its predecessor.
The most profound change in the cabin includes the replacement of its 8-inch touchscreen with a 12-inch unit. This screen extends to the centre console with vertical AC vents on its sides. There is less clutter on the controls from the dash and the centre console also looks cleaner.
The interior design of the old Endeavour had a premium design that incorporated soft-touch materials along with a dual-tone colour theme. On the contrary, Endeavour's new generation looks more butch, the interior has gone all black and the hardware such as steering and handles are thicker. Some of the top trims also have other features such as a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging support, ambient lighting, heated and cooled front seats.
The older Endeavour in India boasted a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 170 hp and 420 Nm of torque. A 3.2-litre 200-hp engine was also on sale.
Whereas, the new Endeavour will come with a range of engines: a 170 hp single-turbo 2.0-litre engine, a 206 hp twin-turbo 2.0-litre mill and a 3.0-litre V6 engine with 246 hp. All the engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The smaller 2.0-litre engines can be had with both rear and four-wheel drive configurations, but the 3.0-litre V6 is mated with full-time 4x4 only. It remains to be seen which engines Ford will bring to India.
