The much-anticipated Kia Carens Clavis EV will be launched in the country on July 15, 2025. While official bookings are expected to commence on the day of its launch, select Kia dealers have started accepting bookings unofficially for the Clavis EV.
The new Kia Carens Clavis EV will be packed with a 51.4 kWh battery pack coupled to a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The company has confirmed that the new electric MPV will offer a MIDC (Part 1 + Part 2) claimed range of 490km on a single charge.
The lower-spec Clavis electric is also expected to receive a smaller 42kWh battery pack. The smaller battery pack version is likely to offer a claimed range of around 400km on a single charge.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV appears largely identical to its ICE derivatives; however, it comes with some EV-specific changes. The electric MPV has a blanked-off grille that houses a charging port and new aero-optimised wheels.
Similar to the Carens Clavis, the EV gets 3-pod LED headlights with DRLs and pixel-type fog lamps. Other design highlights include roof rails, body-coloured ORVMs, connected LED tail-lights and a faux-silver element on the bumper.
The cabin of the Carens Clavis EV looks largely identical to the ICE model. It comes with new dual-tone white and black interior scheme. The electric MPV is likely to be offered with 6 and 7-seat layout with former having captain seats in the second-row.
The electric MPV gets the dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and driver’s instrument console. In terms of features, the MPV gets a panoramic sunroof, a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats and others.
The Clavis EV gets a revised central tunnel with a sliding tray that provides small storage space underneath. It is also likely to get vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging and electrically adjustable front seats. For safety and security, the electric MPV gets six airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, front and rear parking sensors, disc brakes on all-four wheels, and LEVEL 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).
The new Kia Carens Clavis EV won’t have a direct rival in our market. However, it could impact the sales of the MG Windsor EV, Tata Curvv EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric. We expect the new Clavis EV to cost somewhere around Rs 16 lakh to Rs 22 lakh.
