Mahindra will unveil the XEV 9e and the BE 6e today, November 26, 2024. These are the first electric SUVs built on Mahindra's in-house INGLO platform, which Mahindra has specifically designed for EVs. Here are the top features to know about these SUVs.
Both have a skateboard-style design reportedly the lightest in the industry. A flat-floor design maximizes space, and its supposed high-density batteries give users more range and power between charges, which all adhere to the "Electric Origin" philosophy of Mahindra.
The XEV 9e and BE 6e will debut with a pack of 59kWh and 79kWh batteries. It will then stretch to 500 km in one charge. A 175kW DC charger will allow battery charging technology that will permit charging from 20 to 80% within 20 minutes.
Mahindra also focused on safety as the automotive batteries are placed low so that the center of gravity is stable. The SUVs have added strength and crash protection through ultra-high-strength steel made from boron. It also withstands extreme temperatures during its testing process.
Equipped with an electric motor mounted at the rear, ranging from 228 bhp to 282 bhp, the SUVs will feature an all-wheel drive option on some trims of the BE 6e. Adjustable suspension and variable drive modes ensure excitement along with a respectable ride.
With high-end interiors, sunroofs panoramic, touchscreens, smart features including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), wireless charging, and multi-zone climate control, both cars come with a triple-screen setup in the XEV 9e and a dual-screen setup in the BE 6e.
Expect the XEV 9e to start at around Rs. 38 lakh and the BE 6e to start at Rs. 24 lakh. The XEV 9e, meanwhile, will take on the Tata Harrier EV as well as the Safari EV. But the BE 6e slots directly into the space of the Tata Curvv EV and the MG ZS EV. From Mahindra XEV 9e, to BE 6e, not just cars, it represents a futuristic leap in the Indian EV market.
