Mahindra's latest electric SUV, the XEV 9e is one of the most technologically advanced and modernly designed. On the other hand, the XUV700 is also an extremely popular mid-size SUV. The XEV 9e is dimensionally large so it offers a lot of space. It measures 4789 mm in length, 1907mm in width, and 1694 mm in height. A large wheelbase of 2775 mm offers abundant interior space. A towering ground clearance of 207 mm ensures a smooth ride even on rugged roads. The boot space is excellent for carrying luggage as it accommodates 663 litres of luggage.
In contrast, the XUV 700 is somewhat shorter on all sides. Dimensionally, it is 4695mm long 1890mm wide, and 1755mm tall. However, at 2750 mm, it offers ample inside space. And at 200 mm, the ground clearance is not bad for most kinds of countries either. However, its 240-litre boot space is much less than what is offered by XEV 9e.
The XEV 9e is an electric car. There are also two battery variants, namely 59 kWh, and 79 kWh. The e-SUV offers a maximum range of 656 km on the full charge. There is support for the fast charger, which includes a DC 175 kW unit. It takes 20 minutes to charge from the 20% to a full 80% charge. Its engine can offer the power between 231hp and 286 hp, depending on the variant.
The XUV 700 runs on petrol and diesel powertrains. It's available with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, which churns out 197 hp of power, while a 2.2-litre diesel comes in two tunes. The one churning out 152 hp and another with 182 hp of power. It's available with a 6-speed manual or auto gearbox in both powertrains. Mileage is 17kmpl with less fuel, not quite as environmentally-conscious as the XEV 9e.
The XEV 9e boasts all the advanced features. This vehicle features three (12.3-inch) screens on its dashboard for the instrument cluster, touch screen, and passenger screen. Other features provided in the list include a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and ventilated and powered seats along with wireless phone charging. Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are part of the SUV, which has features like lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.
The XUV700 also comprises some premium features. There are dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and the instrument cluster is accommodated in the SUV. This supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV accommodates a 12-speaker sound system from Sony and a panoramic sunroof. Additionally, it is safely equipped with ADAS, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.

The XEV 9e will be priced starting at Rs. 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be available in three variants. Details of prices will be announced in January 2025.
XUV700 ranges from Rs. 13.99 lakh and Rs. 26.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in five trims including MX, AX3, AX5, AX7, and AX7 L. Choice is between petrol and diesel for the buyer.
