Mahindra's new SUV launch, Thar Roxx, is being viewed to have created a maximum reaction from the customers, and the waiting lists have now become record-breakers, reflecting just how good the model is. Launched on 15 August 2024, the Thar Roxx was stated to come at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh. Within that first hour when booking orders were opened, more than 1.76 lakh bookings of the 5-door SUV were received.
Direct contact with the buyer has also been made by Mahindra since the launch of the Thar Roxx, providing an estimation of the delivery time. Some reports recently revealed that 4WD variants of Thar Roxx are attached with a nine-month wait period. Customers interested in purchasing the 2WD variant face a more prolonged wait period; the wait time is long as the delivery time is estimated for up to 18 months. Mahindra is not going to disclose the updated booking figures, but with the initial response, a huge demand can be gauged, which is more than the current production capacity at hand for the brand.
It positions the Thar Roxx as a heavy-duty, capable SUV to cut through busy urban routes with ease but can take a serious battering when thrown into any terrain off the highway. The main reasons behind its popularity include rugged designs, excellent 4WD capabilities along with good inner equipment.
This off-road capability with the ease of everyday usability has ensured that the Thar Roxx appeals to an extensive crowd, ranging from adventure-seekers to city commuters and families.
This is both a challenge and an opportunity for Mahindra. It needs to face the higher demand without compromising on production quality and delivery timing. Mahindra didn't seem to decide its increasing production at once. Long waiting times might drive the brand to increase production so that the customers feel their expectations are met.
Customers are being made to be prepared to face possible delays and to regularly check with the dealerships for the latest delivery timeline, as new orders continue to pour in for Mahindra. Considering these time-consuming wait periods, the appeal of the Thar Roxx has only risen, as it has significantly impacted the Indian SUV market within a few short months of its launch.
