In the month of February 2025, a total of 3.8 lakh passenger cars were sold in the Indian market. The PV segment witnessed a YoY sales growth of 2.3 percent; however, the Month-on-Month sales declined by 5.2 percent when compared to January 2025.
The sales numbers reflects that the Indian car market is facing an uphill task. Dealer dispatches were slow in January and the same trend is expected in February and March 2025. In order to accelerate sales and clear MY2024 stock, automakers and dealers are offering heavily discounts.

The February month also bring major shuffling in OEM rankings. Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker has managed to grab the second position in the list of top car makers in terms of domestic sales. Hyundai slips to 3rd position, while Tata Motors is at 4th position. However, the gap between all three are not huge and anyone can grab the second position. This shows an intense fight amongst these brands.
Not just these three, Toyota and Kia are also fighting hard to clinch the number 5 position in the list of top car makers in India. Toyota sold a total of 26414 units in February, while Kia sold 25,026 vehicles.
- Maruti Suzuki has sold 160,791 vehicles in February 2025 with a market share of 42.2 percent, while Mahindra has a market share of 13.2% with 50420 vehicles sold last month.
- Hyundai and Tata currently holds 12.5% and 12.2% market share, respectively in February 2025. While Hyundai sold a total of 47,727 vehicles, Tata Motors dispatched 46,437 units.
- Toyota has a market share of 6.9 percent in February 2025, while Kia holds 6.6% share. Honda sold 5,616 units with a market share of 1.5% last month.
- Skoda also has a market share of 1.5% with 5,583 vehicles sold in February 2025. MG and VW has a market share of 1.1% and 0.8%, respectively.
- Renault and Nissan sold 2,676 and 2,328 vehicles, respectively last month. While Renault has a market share of 0.7% with 3 products in line-up, while Nissan has 0.6% market share and is currently selling one product in our market. Jeep and Citroen holds 0.1% each with 293 and 268 units sold, respectively last month.
